Tarun’s Journey

Tarun Shriram, a sophomore at UCONN, Storrs, CT, started his journey as a musician at age 10 under the tutelage of Dr. Rohan Krishnamurthy, an acclaimed musician and disciple of maestro Guruvayur Dorai.

Tarun's first stage performance was at age 11, and ever since he has been accompanying various music teachers and their students around the country. Tarun has won awards at the prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Music Festival, Vedic Heritage NY, and Raga Club of Connecticut, to name a few. In August of 2018, he performed his 2 hour graduation recital with renowned carnatic musicians Kruthi Bhat and Shiva Ramamurthi, signifying his ascension to a professional. Currently, he is working with artists in CT to release an album covering the 72 melakartas, the fundamental scales of carnatic music.

Tarun aspires to pursue a career in medical studies and research neurological diseases, while having music as a core influence in his life.
